Search for your own restaurant on Google and tap Order online. If the first option is a marketplace, guests who were looking for you by name are being handed to an app that charges you commission on the order. You can change which link they see.
Open the Food ordering settings
Sign in to the Google account that manages your Business Profile and search for your restaurant. According to Google’s help page on online ordering, the setting is in two places: in Google Search, select Food ordering, and in Google Maps, select Edit profile and then Food ordering.
Add your own link
At the bottom of the Food ordering section, choose Add a link and paste the address of your own ordering page. Use the page where a guest can start an order straight away, not your home page.
Mark it as preferred
Select your link from the list and choose Set as preferred. Google lets you set a preferred option for pickup and for delivery separately, so turn on both if you offer both. Save the change.
Remove links you did not ask for
Marketplace links often appear on a profile without the owner adding them. Select the provider in the same list and choose Remove link. Google’s help page says providers must remove third-party links from a profile within five business days of the business’s request.
If you still want the marketplace as an option, leave it in place. What matters is that your own link is the preferred one.
Check the rest of the profile
- Website: your restaurant’s own site or ordering page
- Menu link: your own menu, not a marketplace copy of it
- Hours: the same hours your ordering page uses
Google notes that the layout differs by country. In some regions the links sit under an Order online button, and in others they appear on the profile as Place an order links. Search for your restaurant on a phone once the change is saved, and again a month later. Links have a way of coming back.
